Our philosophy to treatment of your body’s pain  is holistic in approach. We believe that by looking at a varied and complete method of treatment we are better able to promote a healthy recovery. Listed below are our current areas of practice.

Physiotherapy

“Physiotherapists are highly-educated experts in physical function, movement and mobility. They have advanced knowledge of how the human body moves and what stops it moving and use specialized hands-on treatment to restore, maintain and maximize optimal function and quality of life”. www.physiotherapyalberta.ca/

Physiotherapists are Primary Health Care Professionals, which means that you are not required to have a referral to access this type of health care.  They assess and treat people with health issues and medical problems that can be painful, and/or restrict their ability to move and perform day-to-day functional abilities. They also work together with other health care providers (Doctors, Dietitians, Massage Therapists, and personal trainers) to help direct your care in the most optimal way.

At Resolve, our Physiotherapists have advanced manual therapy training. As manual therapy Physiotherapists, we treat muscular and skeletal pain of the spine and extremities with various advanced techniques including joint mobilization and manipulations, muscle energy, joint and neural mobilization as well as specific muscular releases and stretches. A Physiotherapist trained in manual therapy techniques is generally viewed as the safest and most evidence based practitioner of spinal and extremity manipulation treatments. Through various manual therapy programs, prescription exercises, postural re-education and therapeutic modalities (Ultrasound, IFC, Traction) physiotherapists are able to promote and encourage optimal health and prevent disabilities.

In summary, Physiotherapists are Movement Specialists. If you have a condition that is restricting your mobility, then Physiotherapy is a service you should consider.

Acupuncture/IMS

Acupuncture can address a host of physical ailments and all of our physiotherapists are trained in its uses.

By inserting tiny needles along key nerve points in the body we can use acupuncture to relieve all manner of pain and muscle relaxation as a part of an overall physiotherapy treatment. We often find that by augmenting a whole treatment plan with regular acupuncture we can more effectively address your ailments.

IMS is a modification of the traditional acupuncture approach where points within problematic muscles are targeted seeking a reduction in overall muscle tone and tightness.

Massage Therapy

Massage is used for many different purposes and as such we utilize many different techniques to ensure the proper response to healing your injuries. From Swedish, Trigger Point Release to Therapeutic techniques, we blend various techniques so that you receive the most benefit possible in our massage therapy regimes.

At Resolve we use massage therapy to manually manipulate soft tissue (muscles and tendons) to decrease pain, muscle soreness, muscle spasm and to improve general mobility. It increases the supply of oxygen and nutrients to the muscle tissue, also improving excretion of waste (known as lactic acid) from the muscle tissue. Massage has a significant effect on the natural healing process of the body and works well in conjunction with other types of treatments such as physiotherapy or acupuncture.

At Resolve we require 2200 certification of our massage therapist to ensure that you as a client will not have any issues when submitting for extended health care benefits.

Pilates

Developed by Joseph Pilates, this exercise system combines mental conditioning with physical training. Pilates provides simultaneous stretching and strengthening of the deep abdominal and back muscles enhancing postural integrity and stability.  This movement based system works towards developing and challenging the body’s mobility, strength and balance. Pilates provides a low impact work out that enables the body to work pain free and for those who have been injured or have undergone surgery, it is a great adjunct to rehabilitation. The emphasis on Eastern and Western breathing techniques and correct body usage results in greater mind/body awareness.

Pilates is offered as a treatment option/component by some of the therapists at Resolve.
